Michael D. Kirn, PE
Principal
Mike Kirn joined CCI in 1979 with prior experience from FM Global, which included extensive training in loss prevention and fire protection engineering. Mike leads the Fire Sprinkler and Fire Alarm Design Group based on the principles of professionalism and constructability. Mike continues to provide a solid blend of design services for the broad spectrum of projects and CCI clients.
In 2003, Mike began a new focus in corrosion management, committed to bringing corrective solutions to the fire protection industry’s corrosion problems. Most recently, under Mike’s leadership, CCI has submitted a patent application for “Water-Conserving Fire Protection Systems.” Today, many of the world’s technology leaders and mission critical facilities depend on the patent pending nitrogen inerting technologies and equipment that CCI specifies. As a member of the NFPA 13 Technical Committee on Sprinkler System Installation Criteria, Mike has sponsored several changes to the standard to mitigate the damaging effects of corrosion to these important life safety and property protection systems.
Mike holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Missouri – Rolla and is a registered Fire Protection Engineer in multiple U.S. states and Puerto Rico.
